Saturday December 13th: Wait until…

“Tell no one about this vision until the Son of man has risen from the dead.”

Matthew 17: 9a, 10 – 13

Twice in today’s Gospel we are pointed to Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection. Yet, it’s the end of the Second Week of Advent. Another two weeks of waiting as Mary carries the growing Christ in her womb.

Waiting. (SHORT PAUSE) With Christ in the womb, praying for the grace to enter more deeply into the silent waiting, necessary stretching and becoming… which is the invitation of Advent.

Waiting. (SHORT PAUSE) With the disciples, as they wait until Jesus is risen from the dead to talk about the “vision”. Praying with HOPE when things are confusing and no words can describe them.

Waiting. (SHORT PAUSE) In the current events in the Caribbean. Praying to recognize Christ in His mysterious comings into our lives. He promised: “And remember that I am always with you until the end of time.”

May we be open and receptive to the grace of surrender, humility, and trust as we wait. May we experience joy in the incarnation of Jesus, who came to save us through His birth, life, suffering, death, and resurrection. Amen.
