Thursday December 11th: Spiritual Blessings

“He who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

Matthew 11:11-15

Last Friday at an RCIA meeting we discussed the spiritual blessing of living in these times of the unfolding of Salvation History.

Since we live after the coming of Jesus Christ on earth, we are blessed with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all who will avail themselves of it.

Jesus refers to this blessing in today’s Gospel by saying we are more blessed than even John the Baptist. Yet so often we do not internalize this blessing of Baptism in Christ.

May we, reflecting on this, animate the Holy Spirit within by exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Amen.
