Saturday November 22nd: A glorious new existence

“They are God’s children since they are children of the resurrection.”

Luke 20:27-40

This passage is profound. It shifts our focus from how we live now to
what we are becoming eternally.

Rationalistic and skeptic, are we like the Sadducees? It is simple, friends, the destination is heaven. There is no husband and wife there. The commandments weren’t written without meaning and as scripture says, forgive 70 times 7, love the unlovable, pray for your enemies…It makes sense, if we are to be a community in heaven.

The Sadducees approached Jesus with a mindset limited to this
world—they assumed heaven was merely a reconstruction of earthly
life. No, it is not. The resurrection is about our identity being transformed from all that we are now to permanent children of God, sharing an angelic quality of immortality.

This challenges our own assumptions as we reduce God’s eternity,
thinking that it is the life here on earth. Jesus reminds us that the life to
come is radically different—a glorious new existence. Will you be part
of that life with Him?
