Friday November 21st: A House of Prayer

God’s house, and indeed our hearts, must remain holy and devoted to Him.

Luke 19: 45 – 48

In today’s gospel, Jesus enters the Temple and drives out those who were buying and selling, declaring, “My house shall be a house of prayer.” His actions are bold and prophetic, a reminder that God’s house, and indeed our hearts, must remain holy and devoted to Him.

The Temple was meant to be a place of encounter with God, but it had become cluttered with business and distraction. In the same way, our own lives can become filled with noise, selfishness, and worldly pursuits. Jesus wants to cleanse not just the building, but the inner temple of our hearts, restoring it as a dwelling place for God’s Spirit.

Each of us is called to be a “house of prayer,” a person whose life radiates faith, reverence, and love. When we allow Jesus to enter and purify our hearts, our lives become places where others, too, can meet God. Let us ask Him today: “Lord, cleanse my heart, and make it a house of prayer.”
