When Letting Go Becomes a Way Back Home

By Nicole Joseph Chin

There is a peculiar kind of grace that finds us only when our hands are tired. We do not plan for it. We do not schedule it. It rises quietly, especially when we have run out of clever ways to hold everything together.

More and more, we discover that surrender is not a single moment but a gentle turning. It is a turning away from self-reliance that strains the soul and a turning toward the quiet assurance of God, who has already gone ahead.

A simple reminder from Psalm 46:10 becomes the anchor that connects our restless hearts with divine calm. It invites us to loosen our grip and trust that whatever we release is not abandoned. It is held.

Perhaps this week, surrender comes through small choices: pausing before we respond, choosing silence instead of spiralling, or softly praying, “Lord, steady us,” when the day feels long.

In letting go, we find our bearings again. In surrender, we return, again and again, to the God who never stops carrying what we cannot.

Are you ready to surrender?
