Wednesday November 12th: Give thanks with a grateful heart!

“Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?”

Luke 17: 11–19

Well hear nah, good ting ah is not Jesus, because ah woulda be so vex that only one of de ten come back to say thanks, that I woulda take back all mih healing. Where de nine? Ent that is ungratefulness.

But wait, yuh know when ah really think of it, I could be among the nine too. I mean, ah does remember to thank God when I get something big that ah pray for, but ah does get plenty blessings in ah day, that ah take for granted and does forget to return to the source with gratitude.

Ah remember hearing that ‘ah grateful heart is ah sign of holiness and people with gratitude doh be sour’ and ah laugh; but is true. Grateful people does really be joyful people. Ah feel dat is why gratitude is the very first step in the Examen Prayer.

Lord, give me a grateful heart so that I will ‘praise you with a loud voice,’ like the Samaritan who came back to give thanks.
