“Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.”
Luke 17:1-6
As Catholic Christians, we are all obliged to help one another grow closer to God our Father, through knowledge of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. If we try to do this only by preaching with no real faith action, then we shall accomplish very little or nothing at all.
How, then, do we work at leading others to Christ and away from sinfulness? It is important that we root ourselves firmly in faith in God, while simultaneously bringing others on our faith journey. The things we do must give testimony to what we profess to believe as Christians. In this way, our words and our action will align perfectly with our way of living, so that we become authentic followers of Christ, capable of also leading others to Him.
It is also important that we forgive each other, particularly when the offender admits his faults and seeks repentance. While our humanness often makes it difficult for us to forgive, it is imperative that we do. Our faith will help us to do so.
