‘There is rejoicing among the angels of God over one repentant sinner.’
Luke 15: 1-10
When we lose something valuable, we leave no stone unturned in our search for it. We pray to St. Anthony and all the saints and are very concerned until we find it, and when we do, we feel relieved and rejoice.
Jesus gives us the parable of the lost sheep and that of the woman with the ten drachmas to show us how much he loves us.
When we sin and stray away from God, we are like the lost sheep or the lost drachma and when we are found, when we are repentant, there is rejoicing among the angels of God.
This is why the Father instituted the Sacrament of Penance. He wants us to return to the flock when we stray, and when we are found, the heavens rejoice, for we are valuable in the eyes of God.
Lord, give us the grace to repent when we stray from your flock.
