“But for today and tomorrow and the next day, I must go on…”
Luke 13: 31-35
Herod’s threat clarified Jesus’ purpose. Personal safety was not a priority. Death FINISHED His mission which no earthly power could thwart.
Jesus’ unwavering determination symbolizes God’s persistent love in establishing His kingdom … today, tomorrow, the next day… even unto His death and resurrection
Are we listening? Can it make sense that our focus is also to build God’s kingdom, and approach our mission with similar Jesus’ zeal? Jesus lamented that Jerusalem traditionally rejected God’s love and protection.
We mirror like sentiments, when we approach His cause without commitment, with little enthusiasm and minimum focus. We kill our own spirit… and stone the spirit of others.
How do we face the foxes in our lives? Jesus, by His action, stressed Herod’s insignificance to God’s plans. Regardless of the obstructionists, do we purpose that God’s will must be done?
Lord, strengthen our purpose:
Open us to Your protection.
Help us to recognize and repent our times of resistance,
to have the heart of Christ for others.
And to become instruments of Your peace and love.
