All Saints & All Souls 2025 – What You Ought To Know

From the Liturgical Commission

This year, the Solemnity of All Saints is on Saturday, November 1, and the Commemoration of All Souls on Sunday, November 2.

On Saturday, all Masses celebrated are of All Saints as is the Liturgy of the Hours (Morning and Evening prayer, etc.). Even though the Saturday evening Mass is of All Saints it satisfies the need to attend Sunday Mass. On Sunday, the Masses celebrated are of the Commemoration of All Souls. However, the Liturgy of the Hours follows that of the Sunday (31st Week in Ordinary Time). If the Office is prayed publicly, the Office of the Dead may be used.

The Gloria and Creed are not used in the All Souls Liturgy.

A breakdown of how the Archdiocese of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago will observe this special weekend:
• Saturday, November 1 – Solemnity of All Saints – All Masses on Saturday, including the evening Vigil Mass, will celebrate All Saints.
• Sunday, November 2 – Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls Day) – All Sunday Masses will be offered for All Souls.
There will be no Gloria, no penitential rite and the tone of the liturgy will be more reflective as we remember and pray for our departed loved ones.

While some countries like the United States observe All Saints and All Souls differently when they fall on a weekend, the Roman Catholic Church in the Caribbean follows the Universal (and UK) liturgical calendar.
