The Parish of Bourg Mulatresse was joyful on Sunday, October 5, as 14 candidates received their First Holy Communion. The heartfelt ceremony was officiated by Fr Martin Ezesigwe, who blessed the children and welcomed them into a deeper relationship with Jesus through the Holy Eucharist.
The candidates, who ranged in age from 8 to 12 years old, attended special Faith Formation Classes every Saturday for the past year. During these classes, they learned about their Catholic faith, the significance of Holy Communion, and how to become closer to God.
The classes were led by a team of catechists, led by Rosyln John, the head of the Catechetical Team at Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe (MIQU) who carefully guided the children through their faith journey.
The following Sunday, the children, dressed in beautiful white outfits, returned to the church for Mass to celebrate their initiation into the Catholic faith. After Mass, everyone enjoyed a happy brunch in the Parish Hall, sharing joy and fellowship.
It is hoped that these young Catholics will continue to come to church, learn more about their faith, and grow into loving members of their parish community. Their First Holy Communion marks an exciting step in their spiritual journey. —Nicole Alleyne-Noreiga, catechist
