Outpouring of the Spirit, Water of Life’ Concert

Christine Wharton—recording artist, singer, songwriter, and musician—will debut her new single at the Jubilee concert entitled ‘Outpouring of the Spirit, Water of Life’, October 17, at the St Dominic’s Pastoral Centre Auditorium, Morne Coco Road, Diego Martin, on the grounds of St Finbar’s RC Church.

Christine’s new 2025 single, ‘In the Desert, Water of Life’, is a Gospel Reggae song symbolising hope through divine provision and sustenance in life’s most difficult circumstances.

It reflects the truth that even in the harshest deserts of our lives, there is a source of renewal and hope through divine encounters. While many individuals and families have faced hardships in countless ways, this song proclaims that hope remains.

Christine’s journey is marked by discernment and praise expressed through her music. The concert presentation will take audiences through the early years of her ministry, beginning at St Patrick’s RC Church in Newtown, Maraval, and continuing through her involvement in various spheres of the Catholic Church music community. Her extensive songwriting career began at age 16, when she composed poems that later evolved into songs inspired by divine revelations and biblical texts.

She is no stranger to the recording studio. In 1994, she produced an 11-song studio album, followed by her most recent 2025 release, ‘In the Desert, Water of Life’. Christine’s songs consistently give praise to Almighty God and His works. Some of her early compositions include ‘The Samaritan Woman’, ‘I Thank You God’, ‘Heed Not the Leaves’, ‘Cry Softly Mother’, ‘Your Entire Life is a Son’, ‘Call of the Vagrant’, and ‘I Married You’.

Christine also brings deep empathy to her ministry. She holds a Master’s degree in counselling and has served as an Employee Assistance Programme counsellor, university student counsellor, and drug and alcohol abuse counsellor before her retirement.

In 1994, with her SPES Music group, she recorded the United Nations’ song ‘The Family’ during the International Year of the Family for the National Family Services in Trinidad and Tobago. That recording was broadcast in schools and other institutions nationwide.

Christine is known for “a distinct, relaxing style and a voice described as full of pathos that soothes the inner self.” This vocal gift earned her a place as a soloist in Wayne Berkeley (deceased) and Thora Dumbell’s On Broadway production at Queen’s Hall in 2005, where she performed four songs, including leading the cast in ‘When You Walk Through a Storm’.

The concert itself will unfold as a spiritual journey:

ACT I – The Encounter and the Awakening: Featuring ‘Testimony’ in song and ‘The Woman at the Well,’ embodying encounter and awakening. This act incorporates spiritual discernment, surrender, affirmation of purpose, and covenant.

ACT II – The Overflow and the Call: Featuring song and dance portrayals, this act embodies the invitation to ‘Come Unto Me,’ faith, elevation, and transformation.

Christine Wharton and her SPES Music group will be supported by several experienced musicians within a full band including:

Gillian Germain-King – Acoustic guitar, background vocals

Stanley Wharton – Percussion, electric guitar, steelpan, background vocals

Michael Germain – Bass

Michael Chetram – Keyboard

Patrick Gouveia – Classical guitar

Nariba Herbert – Viola/violin

Karl Doyle – Drums

Brian Carimbocas – Vocals

The dancers of the Trinity Dance Theatre, led by Allan Balfour, will perform one dance in each segment of ACT I and ACT II.
