“Who then is the greatest?”
Matthew 18.1-5, 10
Today the Church celebrates the Guardian Angels. The Gospel reading chosen is very interesting. The disciples wanted to know who was the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. By calling a little child to Him, Jesus demonstrates and reminds us, that for anyone to enter the Kingdom of Heaven we must change and become like little children.
Our first reaction will probably be, how difficult such a way of living can be since children are so innocent and humble. But the challenge is for us to work continuously at being holy and good. We can call upon our Guardian Angel who is always with us for help. We are reminded that the angels in heaven always see the face of the Father.
Another key aspect of this call is that of service. We must be willing to serve each other, as exemplified by Jesus when He washed the feet of the disciples. The Corporal works of Mercy also comes to mind.
As we reflect on the passage today let us pray for guidance in our daily actions and relationships.
