Monday September 29th: What a promise!

“You shall see greater things than these.”

John 1:47-51

Jesus can spot genuine people at a glance, whether from near or from a distance; and he calls them to be children of God, people with integrity. People with whom he can share his insights about what is required to represent him on earth.

Once we are called, we are enlightened as to what is required: that we love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and that we love our neighbours with the same compassion and understanding that we would want extended to us. This is done through the power of the Holy Spirit, as we demonstrate the fruits of love, peace, goodness, gentleness, patience, etc in our interactions with one another.

Imagine what would happen if we actually followed God’s will and did what is required. I guess we will certainly see greater things: greater peace, goodness, gentleness, patience, miracles, mercy, forgiveness, love. And if we can live those, then we will be open to seeing/experiencing “heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man”. I hope we can handle it!
