Reconnecting in Nature

Erin Newton

“Just smell the grass, the dirt, just like I dreamed they’d be. Just feel that summer breeze, the way it’s calling me” (Tangled 2010)

When was the last time you felt the grass with your bare feet? Or the last time you looked up at the night sky to see the stars? What about the last time you went for a nature walk?

Let this be your reminder.

Nature has so much wonder and beauty and sometimes we don’t even go outside our homes or offices for the day. Fresh air is different. It’s important that we reconnect to nature during our days. The various elements in nature allow us to feel a sense of peace and can help us calm our minds to really remember who we are. We can reconnect to nature and in nature.

God created the different elements of nature with such perfect design and we humans must also take care of it all. That means we clean up our garbage, water our plants, and do our best not to pollute the environment. We can try to use clean fuels or not create too much waste. The little things matter so don’t feel your small effort did not count – it totally does.

When in a beautiful natural space, we tend to take in the beauty. This is your reminder to do that. Go somewhere with grass and trees and sky above and stay for a while to take in the marvel of nature. Recentre yourself and let the peaceful silence fill your mind and soul.

I could go running and racing and dancing and chasing and leaping and bounding, hair flying, heart pounding and splashing and reeling and finally feeling. That’s when my life begins” (Tangled 2010).
