Surrender Series: Pouring into Others

Nicole Joseph-Chin

For many, pouring into others is a habitual practice, leading to an outcome where both parties are left fuelled by an experience of being nurtured.

There are, however, many people who still have not had the wonderful experience of pouring in and/or being the recipient of fuel that’s engendered through surrender.

Examples of ways surrender and pouring in work hand in hand can be as ‘routine’ as

  • Listening attentively – no devices, no distractions, just opened ears and an open heart
  • Pausing, despite having a full day, to accompany someone to the supermarket or to a doctor appointment
  • Offering to drive a long distance, despite the heavy traffic
  • Preparing a meal for someone who might be unwell, shut-in or in recovery

Acts of service, and especially selfless service, are in alignment with surrender and build connectedness that answers the call to love one another.

Are you ready to surrender?
