Jubilee Hope Walk

On Sunday, September 21, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Trinidad and Tobago will embark on a Hope Walk—a profound act of faith and unity in the heart of Port of Spain. This year, as we, the Catholic Church, celebrate our Jubilee Year under the theme Hope Does Not Disappoint (Rom 5:5), we boldly proclaim our solidarity with our brothers and sisters from the communities of Gonzales, Beetham Gardens, and Sea Lots.

For many in these communities, daily life is fraught with trials and the heavy burden of stigma. The label ‘high-risk area’ often overshadows the stories of resilience, achievement, and hope that emerge from them.

Yet, within these neighbourhoods, countless individuals rise above circumstances, excelling in school, the arts, sports, and community life. Their successes are a testament to the light that cannot be dimmed by adversity. Our hope, anchored in Jesus Christ, is not naïve or wishful—it is a living hope in the God who does not disappoint and who always sees the good in people, our God of second chances.

In this Jubilee Year, we walk to remind these communities and ourselves that hope is very much alive, and that God’s love has no boundaries. With expectant hearts, we will gather on the Promenade in Port of Spain for an afternoon of praise, worship, outreach, and ministry, celebrating Jesus, our hope, and the goodness that rises from places often misunderstood.

Let us walk together through these communities, united in faith, hope, and love, confident that our God is making all things new. All are invited.
