Saturday August 30th: Faith, or Fear?

“…you can be trusted with small things, I will trust you with greater…”

Matthew 25:14-30

While we await His second coming, Jesus entrusts us with valuable resources to build His Kingdom. Each one is uniquely gifted with talents according to his ability. Some accept talents in faith; others accept in fear.

The Faithful use their talents with stewardship, responsible risk-taking and diligence. LOVE serves while love waits.

The Fearful hesitate long enough to invite gossip that leads to “stinking thinking”. They become secretive, self-righteous and judgmental. Light, hidden under a bushel, benefits no-one.

On the Master’s return the efforts of two good and Faithful servants are equally rewarded. Both are invited to “join in [their] Master’s happiness.”

The unprofitable servant was condemned as wicked and lazy, his own words causing his damnation.

The passage shows FAITH embracing appreciation and trust, whilst prompting right- action. FEAR caused doubt and strengthened insecurity, resulting in thoughtless, irresponsible action.

All are graced with valuable talents.Their use depends on our attitude of acceptance. Our reward is a consequence of choice of action. FAITHful?… or FEARful?
