“For many are invited but not all are chosen.”
Matthew 22:1-14
Today’s Gospel should awaken us to the reality that not all who are called will be chosen to enter God’s kingdom. Can we expect to be counted if we have not even stepped out of our cradles? Is it enough for us to just be good and decent people who take the invitation to the lamb’s supper lightly?
We live in an era of hyper-distraction, fixated on being relevant to the world, on what we can achieve, attain, and consume. What true good can it bear if it does not serve and glorify God but rather…self?
We must put first things first in our lives. Matthew 6:26-27 says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” God’s invitation is always open. Let’s intentionally seek first His kingdom and trust that the rest will fall in line.
