Honouring the Past, Embracing the Future: A Year of Service and New Beginnings at Belgroves Funeral Home

As Belgroves Funeral Home approaches its 137th anniversary on August 15th, we pause with reverence and gratitude to reflect on the past year—one marked by meaningful progress, deepened community bonds, and a renewed commitment to service.

This year, we embraced new beginnings with the opening of our Port of Spain branch, a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of the capital, designed to serve the western communities of Trinidad with dignity, comfort, and care. This milestone reaffirms our promise to be there for families across the nation during their most sacred moments of farewell.

Throughout the year, our mission extended far beyond funeral services. With deep roots in faith, we continued to support the spiritual and communal life of our people. We were honoured to contribute to the Parish of St. Benedict’s Church Harvest, the Tortuga Parish Church Harvest (twice during the year), and the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Harvest, reinforcing our connection to the Church and its work. Our sponsorship of the Catholic News “Steps of Hope” 5K reflected our belief in the power of unity, wellness, and hope in action.

We also invested in the next generation. Through sponsorship of dance classes at Happy Hill Hindu School and career fair participation at Febeau Government Primary and St. Benedict’s College, we sought to inspire and uplift young minds—offering not just opportunity, but encouragement and support for their journeys ahead.

In the spirit of national pride and community upliftment, we supported numerous sports, culture, and wellness initiatives. From our sponsorship of Tornadoes Steel Orchestra, Morvant Swim Academy, and the T&T Tae Kwon Do Federation, to backing the Pleasantville Secondary School Football Team and hosting Wellness Expos in Point

Fortin and Tobago, we demonstrated our belief that honouring life also means celebrating it in all its vibrant expressions.

As we mark this anniversary, we remain grounded in our core values of empathy, excellence, and community. We thank all those who have walked with us over the past year—partners in ministry, educators, health and wellness professionals, artists, athletes, and most of all, the families we are privileged to serve.

Belgroves continues to stand as a guardian of sacred memory, a champion of cultural preservation, and a humble servant to all. Together, we look forward with faith, guided by the legacy of the past and the promise of tomorrow.
