Monday August 11th: Trust in Jesus

‘” Go to the lake and cast a hook; take the first fish that bites…” ‘

Matthew 17:22-27

Go and take the coin out from the mouth of a fish that you will find. Use the coin to pay the temple tax. What! Put yourself in Peter’s shoes for a moment. Jesus must be joking! Is He for real?

But Peter obeys. And he does find a fish in the lake with a coin in its mouth. Certainly, Peter is now in awe of Jesus. What, then, does this tell us about Jesus?

Undoubtedly, Jesus is TRUSTWORTHY. We know that we can confidently do whatever He tells us to do. Even His mother, Mary, told the guests at the Wedding Feast “Do whatever he tells you.”

Everything Jesus says should be believed. What joyful hope this gives us! He always cares for us and leads us through storms, both big and small, in our lives. Let us be thankful and allow the memories of what the Lord has done be our strength and source of unwavering hope.

Jesus, we trust in You.
