‘You are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church.’
Matthew 16: 13-23
We are all children of God, but often, by our behaviour, we do not show it. When we meet very good people who have been very kind to us, we realise they are special, and we thank God for them.
Jesus was with his best friends, who had been following him and had seen the wonderful works that he was doing. They knew him best, so he felt he could ask them what people were saying about him.
The people who did not know him as well as the disciples thought that he was one of the past prophets. Peter, who knew him best of all, saw him as ‘The Christ, the Son of the living God.’
When we encounter very kind persons, we can see them as children of God.
Lord, help me to discover you in my neighbour. Amen.
