Peter said, “Lord, if it is You tell me to come to you on the water”.
Matthew 14:22-36
At times we feel so ‘strong’ we overstep and may find ourselves challenging God.
On top of the mountain, I am sure Jesus’ gaze was on His apostles in the boat. He was perhaps watching their struggle with the storm but did not go to them immediately. He stayed and prayed in union with His Father for a refreshing.
When we find ourselves amid a storm, we may feel we are in control until we realize we were in the storm’s eye.
Our pride may be going unnoticed, and we take the reins instead of submitting and surrendering to Christ-the One who controls all storms. When we find ourselves overwhelmed and sinking, we realize we did not wait on God’s Holy Spirit.
Father, may we be granted the grace to humbly submit ourselves to Your will in trustful obedience and not put You to the test in Jesus’ name. Amen
