Sunday July 27th: Teach us to pray, Lord

“When you pray this is what you say” …

Luke 11:1-13

Have you ever found it difficult to pray. As if either the place, time, occasion, or words were all wrong. Do you then go back to those prayers you’ve learnt by heart since you were five or younger? Well, that has happened to me on countless occasions and then I wish I could find some formula to rescue me from the silence…

Jesus’ disciples were in the right place for prayer…but they did not have the know-how. …Jesus gave them the words for praise, submission, petition, and contrition.

Today, as we walk through our homes, let each room inspire connection with God!

Bedroom: Thank you, God, for through your power and grace I awaken and arise today!

Bathroom: I release my hopes and dreams and replace them by your design for creation.

Kitchen: May your Holy Spirit nourish and sustain all the good we encounter.

Living Room: Unbind the ties of deeds which led us away from you.

Gállery: Lead us to that field beyond right and wrong where we can flourish in your loving care.

We make these prayers in all your holy names, O God!
