All Welcomed to Thanksgiving Mass for J’Lani De Four

J’Lani De Four has come to recognise the promise in the delays of life and to trust in God’s timing.

Graduating with First Class Honours in Psychology from The University of the West Indies in 2022 was an unexpected but cherished achievement—one that confirmed that Psychology is truly where he’s meant to be.

Encouraged by the wise words of one of his secondary school teachers—”focus on what you’re called to do, not just what to be”—J’Lani is driven to guide others toward healing and transformation.

His journey has not been easy. After facing several rejections, he questioned his path. But through faith and perseverance, the right door opened: Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, where he was accepted into their Master’s in Clinical and Counselling Psychology programme.

This mission of hope and healing required community. From January to June, J’Lani and a circle of supporters put faith into action through four fundraising efforts: a MovieTowne Premiere, a Bake and Shark Sale, a Bingo, and a Boat Ride entitled ‘Sailabration’.

These have helped propel him closer, with still some way to go, towards his financial goal and reminded him of the strength found in solidarity.

As he prepares to begin this next chapter in August, J’Lani invites everyone to a Thanksgiving Mass on Friday, July 25—the Feast of St James the Apostle—at St Charles Borromeo RC Church, Tunapuna, beginning at 6.30 p.m.

It is a Mass to give rightful praise and thanks to the Most High God, from Whom all blessings flow. This liturgy marks more than a farewell—it’s a celebration of God’s faithfulness and a call to mission, echoing the life of St James and J’Lani’s own path of service.

In raising up young voices like J’Lani’s, the Church proclaims that the future is now. Let us stand beside him, championing a mission of healing, service, and purpose that will inspire others to rise.

A Hope of A Brighter Future lies ahead.
