Surrender Series: Surender As Divine Interruption

Have you ever been interrupted in the middle of something that you might have thought was important and as a matter of fact, it was urgent and demanded all of your attention, only for an abrupt and disruptive interruption to find itself between you and that important moment?

Or perhaps, a disappointment came where certainty resided and we often are left distraught – a new and long anticipated job, a bonus in time for a new purchase, a deserving promotion or perhaps disappointed that an important event had to be cancelled.

Yes,  I know this sounds familiar and it also might call many instances to mind, where there as a deadline or maybe a destination that was totally turned around because of that one interruption.

And then – wait for it………

Then the divine response comes right before us and it was in fact, the most significant moment of being saved from something untoward – and we discover that the ‘inconvenience’ was in fact a blessing.

I call these moments – Divine Interruption and they can happen at work, at home, on the road, at a significant family or friends gathering and it can make you feel so bummed, at least, until the entire moment of being saved reveals itself.

In times like these, we often are disturbed – “why did you…….”– often blaming others in our immediate reactionary moments. Until we perhaps discover that being delayed was actually not being denied but having a better chance.

In Psalm 34:7 we know for certain that these moments are in fact only orchestrated by our true Redeemer, our Blessed Mother and orchestrated by the Holy Spirit  we oftentimes only in hindsight remark at the outcome being more in our favour than we had imagined.

Our Lord usually delays or interrupts us when He has something bigger and better in store for us and in times like these, we have been better off surrendering to His will and waiting in hope for the promises at hand.

But as humans, who wants to surrender? Who wants to wait? Who wants to have another year or two before that promotion, or trip?

Surrender can be such a great teacher to us, when we understand the had of God at work. An only in those moments, can we truly reference Psalm 121:7-8 with much gratitude.

Are you Ready to Surrender?
