“Follow me, and leave the dead to bury the dead.”
Matthew 8:18-22
Jesus’ commandment/instruction/directive is for us to follow him completely, with our entire being, even if it means departing from what is considered the usual status quo.
Jesus also gives a glimpse of the magnitude of the work, dedication and commitment that is required in accomplishing his earthly assignment of teaching, including forgiveness and serving others, as well as healing, and the change that is required in bringing salvation to mankind. So much so that he had nowhere to lay his head.
Is our faith and dedication to doing God’s work a reflection of Jesus’ commitment?
Each day let us spend time with the Lord, so we can clearly hear his commandments and ask him for the grace to live the kind of life that is reflective of his ministry in this world.
