Friday June 6th: A Call to Recommitment

Love for Christ is not proven by words alone, but by action.

John 21:15-19

In today’s gospel, we witness a tender and powerful moment between Jesus and Peter. Three times Jesus asks, “Do you love me?” This was not to shame Peter, but to restore him after his three denials. Each time Peter says, “yes,” Jesus responds with a mission: Feed my sheep. This exchange reveals that love for Christ is not proven by words alone, but by action, by a willingness to say, “yes” again and again, even after failure.

Saying, “yes” to the Lord is not always easy. It may lead us out of our comfort zone, into sacrifice, or onto a path we never expected. Yet, in that “yes,” we find our purpose. Like Peter, we are invited to respond to Jesus’ love with trust and obedience.

Every “yes” we say to God is a step deeper into the life we are meant to live. Today, let us hear Christ’s question in our own hearts — Do you love me? — and have the courage to respond: “Yes, Lord, you know I love you.”
