On Thursday, May 8 in commemoration of Nurses Appreciation Week, the parish of St Michael’s, Maracas Valley, St Joseph, recognised, prayed with and celebrated nurses of the Maracas Valley Health Centre.
Nurses, doctors, administrative staff, medical social workers, and security of the Health Centre were in attendance.
Praise and worship songs filled the air of the Health Centre on that morning. The Health Centre staff are of different faith backgrounds, but they all appreciated and participated in the morning of prayer. Each nurse and staff member received tokens of appreciation from the parish and individual parishioners.
Fr Mikhail Woodruffe O Carm, parish priest, offered a prayer with the nurses and other staff.
The initiative was the brainchild of Head Nurse/District Health Visitor Sparkle Stafford who was a speaker at the parish’s Lent Retreat for Seniors, which featured a talk by health professionals on a different health topic each week. Fr Woodruffe has previously been invited to offer prayer and spirituality talk with parents of the infant clinic at the Health Centre.
We celebrate and thank God for our nurses and Health Centre staff.
