Lady Hochoy Home (LHH) South observed its 55th anniversary with Holy Mass at Christ the Lord and St Michael RC Church in Marabella on Thursday, May 15, presided by Fr Mikhail Woodruffe O Carm and Rev Harold Woodruffe (no relation).
It was a joyful celebration in a church filled with present and past students, parents, staff, well-wishers, benefactors and the Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters. Shereen Mohip, a member of the LHH South subcommittee, welcomed everyone.
The Marabella Folk Choir, together with the students of the LHH South and the congregation truly made a joyful sound unto the Lord with a spirited version of ‘Lift Jesus Higher’. The music-filled Mass included an action song, ‘Lord, I Lift Your Name on High’ by the Juniors; ‘The Goodness of God’ on steelpan by Shawn Winchester; and ended with the entire congregation singing lustily, ‘God’s Not Dead, He is Still Alive.’
Fr Woodruffe recounted that he was feeling again his experience when he said his first Mass for LHH South. It resonated with Heaven, he said, because of the diversity and the joy of sharing and helping one another. He emphasised the measure of faith in service and spoke of the joy of being at the service of one another and finding one’s reward therein. Before the dismissal, LHH South Manager Sr Antoinette Fahey O Carm said thanks. Her rally cry ‘God is good all the time’ resonated with the congregation.
