God did it for me again, at Sacramental Marriage Building session

By Sparcle Felix-Noel

When we receive favour from the Lord, we enter any situation headstrong saying: “Lord do it again”, right? This is how I felt attending the Sacramental Marriage Building two-day workshop hosted by the Archdiocesan Family Life Commission.

Saturday, May 17 was rainy, but the warm greetings and breakfast just before the start set the tone for greatness. The diversity of participants: married, unmarried, common-law, and separated were all gathered.

After the relationship cycle was explained, the atmosphere created by the coordinators moved me to testify. Couples were educated as they expressed some of their concerns regarding long-distance relationships and understanding each other. Some shared that the exercises had them falling in love all over again. The first day was breathtaking and as it ended, we were reminded to start with prayer as we met the next day at Mass.

Sunday 18, many more showers came, and I was convinced I was not attending day two. I got a message from one participant, then a call from another who offered to come get us–this brought me to tears.

Unable to reach in time for Mass, I felt as though I missed the most important part, but the day turned out to be nothing short of a blessing. The videos and messages were thought-provoking: ‘God gives us new wine’; ‘Your spouse has what is needed to make you a saint’. Take aways: ‘remember to check in’ and my husband’s favourite: ‘everything is a prayer’.

The atmosphere was filled with love: couples embraced each other and gave quick kisses; some admitted they were heading apart but now understood each other well enough to take the next step. Sadly, the workshop ended but giving hope to the future of healthy marriages—God did it again.

The Skills for Sacramental Marriage Building accompaniment sessions were held on May 17 and 18 at the Seminary of St John Vianney and the Uganda Martyrs.
