Catholic primary school has ‘sister’ school in Taiwan

BELIZE

Belize’s Ambassador to Taiwan, Dr Candice Pitts, facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a sister-school partnership between St John Vianney Catholic Primary School in Belize City and Taipei Municipal Rixin Elementary School.

The ceremony, held in Taipei on May 2, was attended by school administrators and officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education from both nations.

Online news source, Breaking Belize News, reported that Ambassador Pitts, an alumna of St John Vianney, expressed pride in the partnership, noting Rixin Elementary also holds a special place with the Embassy of Belize.

“Ambassador Pitts highlighted the academic, cultural, and diplomatic value of the collaboration, saying it would foster exchange of teaching practices and deepen mutual understanding among students,” the article said.

It stated that the sister-school agreement marks another step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Belize and Taiwan.

Organisers extended thanks to the schools’ faculty, staff, and ministry representatives for making the MOU signing “a success”.
