Sunday May 11th: Forever one with God

“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the message of eternal life.”
John 6: 60-69
Following Jesus is a decision we make, determined to stay tough and faithful, regardless of the obstacles that we may encounter. It is, therefore, never a feeble decision, for it makes us resolute in standing firm and sturdy in difficult times.
Very often, it may seem preferable to find a reason to take the easier path and walk away. That is precisely why many of Jesus’ disciples “no longer followed Him.” They found His teaching “hard to take.” But Jesus did not deviate from what He said, because He always spoke Truth. Jesus is Truth. That is precisely why He persisted in saying that His words gave Spirit and Life and that in order to be drawn to Him, we must be led by the Grace of the Father. Such Grace leads us to follow Jesus into Eternal Life.
Hence the reason for Peter’s memorable words, “Lord, to Whom shall we go? You have the message of eternal life.”
May these words be forever etched in our minds and hearts. Amen.
