Thursday May 8th: No one Can Come, Unless…

It is the Father who draws us.

John 6:44-51

Today we are faced with a stark but loving awareness that it is not we who find Jesus but rather it is the Father who draws us to Jesus. Jesus says no one can come to Him unless the Father draws us to Him. He goes on to explain that to hear the teaching of the Father and to learn from it, is to ‘come to’ Him. So, it is not our initiative but that of the Father. The Father lovingly beckons to us, teaching us, pulling us to hear His instruction and then it is up to us to learn and to believe. Jesus promises that once we believe we will have eternal life.
It is the Father’s call on our life that allows us to truly meet Jesus and that gives us a chance to possess eternal life; that causes us to come to Jesus and to partake of the Bread of Life – the Living Bread.
Dear Father, thank you for still calling me to Jesus in the Eucharist. May I learn and believe!!!
