There is a reward for giving our time to supporting and caring for those we love and those in need. Blessings come in many forms and it is well-documented that when we care for others, we are demonstrating God’s love through our actions, patience and love.

Care-giving is one of the deepest forms of surrender and is sometimes overlooked and misunderstood.

This is dedicated to the many caregivers who might be reading this and trying to connect the dots between surrender and caregiving. This is also a note of gratitude for the many caregivers among us and you might be reading this and wondering what the inspiration for such an involved message is.

Sometimes, caregiving can feel so overwhelming and can put strains of the caregiver, especially when there might be limited support systems, resources or outlets which might inadvertently lead to a sense of overwhelm, loneliness and burnout—all due to limited time for basic self-care.

In fact, caregivers are such treasures and are sometimes so deeply involved in the care of others that they immerse themselves in caring and that becomes the only thing that they want to do, because it comes easily, naturally and brings much comfort.

Caregivers are the true ‘Surrender Soldiers’ as they openly display their capacities of being well-equipped to be strong for others and to uphold every single form of restraint.

I recently watched a dear friend living through what can most describe Galatians 6:2  a busy child, caring for an ailing parent—placing everything aside to dedicate care and attention almost 24/7 and without a single complaint.

The surrender moments that are involved in one single act of caregiving are innumerable and sometimes are unnoticed because it is so deeply embedded in the process.

This is dedicated to the caregivers whose commitment to loving and caring for those whom they are given the opportunity to provide care for, oftentimes do this so selflessly and without measuring or murmuring.

This is dedicated to many of the caregivers who feel a sense of overwhelm yet they plod on and press on in the love of their calling.

Without a doubt, caregiving demands the physical and emotional wherewithal that leads to an immense surrender moment.

Have you noticed how easily caregivers allow surrender to be their superpowers? Are you ready to surrender? Are you a Surrender Soldier?
