Thursday April 24th: Jesus appeared to the Apostles

“See how it is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day, rise from the dead.”

Luke 24: 35 -48.

Jesus reminded his apostles of the above. They thought that they were seeing a ghost when he stood among them after they had seen him nailed to the cross on which he died. They did not believe those who had seen the empty tomb. Many of us like to see with our own eyes; to touch and feel before we believe what anyone says especially if it is alleged to be a miracle.
Jesus challenged the apostles to touch the wounds in his hands and feet. Furthermore, he had to eat a piece of fish to prove that he was alive. Do we need to touch his hands and feet also, before we could believe? At the Last Supper Jesus himself took bread, prayed and gave it to his twelve disciples, saying: “Take and eat, for this is my body.” “Do this in remembrance of me.”
In addition, he continues to give Himself to us, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in Holy Eucharist. What more do we need in order to believe?
