La Veronica RC School Pilgrimage: Hope in Action

The Jubilee Year, celebrated every 25 years, is a sacred time for renewal, reconciliation, and restoration. It invites us to step away from the ordinary and embrace a journey of deeper faith, healing, and transformation. A pilgrimage—whether to a grand cathedral or a quiet sacred site—becomes a powerful expression of this call.

Guided by the theme Hope in Action, La Veronica RC School journeyed to Tobago with 62 students, 40 parents, and staff on March 25. We visited the sacred site of St Joseph RC Church, where we joyfully celebrated Mass with Fr Peter St Hillaire and our parish priest, Fr Gregory McLawrence CSSp. It was a moment of deep prayer and communion.

In the spirit of solidarity among Catholic schools, our students presented a gift to the the Principal of Scarborough RC School, Ann Williams — a simple but meaningful act of unity, generosity, and shared mission.

The group also explored Fort King George and Fort James, connecting faith with culture and heritage. Through every step—worship, giving, learning—our children lived out what it means to carry Hope in Action.

This pilgrimage became more than a trip; it was a witness to the grace and renewal the Jubilee calls us to embrace.
