Wednesday April 23rd: Did not our hearts burn?

“O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets had spoken.”

Luke 24:13-35

How beautiful indeed! Our Lord comes to us in such an ordinary and simple way. He walks and talks to us and still, we don’t recognize who He is. Beloved, it appeared as though the blind was leading the blind as the men walked. Are we like those men? Iron sharpens iron but yet the men stayed in a state of confusion because the understanding of God’s plan was unknown and what scripture foretold.
My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. Makes me ponder on all the unnecessary dialogue we have, possibly inflicting torment in our mind. When Jesus blessed, broke, and shared the bread, the men recognized Him. That encounter with Jesus changed everything! They recalled their hearts burnt as Jesus spoke and opened them up to scripture. Eagerly, they shared the good news.
May we, as believers, seek a deeper understanding of the Word of God. Only then, will we know the truth, not be spiritually blind, confused and cause division amongst those with whom we walk.
