Bethesda – For Persons with Disabilities has announced special initiatives for the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope. Drawing inspiration from Pope Francis’ call to address poverty and promote human dignity, the organisation is focusing on supporting families caring for persons with disabilities (PwDs).
Bethesda recognises the ongoing challenges faced by these families, including limited access to education, employment, and housing for PwDs. Their initiatives aim to provide hope through practical support networks, including:
Bethesda will be participating in a pilgrimage to the sacred site at Our Lady of the Assumption, Maraval on Thursday, April 24 as the Jubilee of People with Disabilities will be held in Rome, April 28-29. There will be a sensory friendly Mass at 10 a.m. and with the support of students from San Juan North Secondary Drama will have an immersive experience for our PwDs.
There will be volunteers to help with the care of our PwDs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Transportation will be available from Holy Faith Convent, Couva and the Arouca RC Church leaving at 8.15 a.m. to arrive at Maraval for 9.45 a.m. Return trips leave at noon and/or 2 p.m.
For families with mobility challenges, Bethesda is offering transportation directly to and from home. Specialised wheelchair transport with the support of T&T Wheelchair Accessible Transit and Tours Limited will be provided.
Bethesda invites interested parties to register for the pilgrimage or provide donations by contacting Charlene Gittens
