Good Friday
Jesus is the willing sacrifice, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
John 18: 1-19: 42
On this solemn day, we stand at the foot of the cross. The Passion of Jesus, in John’s Gospel points to the truth that Jesus is not just a victim of human injustice — Jesus is the willing sacrifice, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Jesus is fully in control of His Passion. When the soldiers come to arrest Him, He steps forward and declares, “I am He.” At these words, they fall to the ground — because even in His arrest, Jesus is the one with divine authority. Jesus does not beg Pilate for mercy but proclaims, “You would have no power over me if it had not been given to you from above.”
At the moment of crucifixion, it seems like the ultimate humiliation, the final defeat. But in the eyes of faith, this is the moment of Jesus’ glory. He is lifted up — not in shame, but in victory. Jesus reigns from the cross, offering His life in obedience to the Father.
