Sunday April 13th: How I have longed

If you don’t gather, you scatter.

Luke 23:1-49

Who does not gather, have no part with me. Jesus eagerly desires to eat the Passover with His A-team.

It is only in the breaking of bread that healing happens. Things are exposed; matters are laid bare on the table; broken to be made whole. Pending grievances rise to the top and are addressed.

This is what is going to happen. The hen gathers her brood for the last time and prepares them for the fox who at the moment is sharpening his teeth for the onslaught. This is their mode of operation; they destroy any challenge to their authority and power; this is their kingdom, they think, and they will leave no stone unturned in their quest to retain power.

Their battle cry is fear and death to their enemies. They want you to cower. We, however, are grateful for this battle. We have come here for this. We are washed clean in the blood of the lamb. Just don’t let death meet you thinking that you die. But with banners unfurled as you march to the new Jerusalema.
