“Even if you do not believe me, believe the works.”
John 10: 31 – 42
The people want to stone Jesus for blaspheming since He claimed to be one with the Father. Jesus responds with an invitation: “Even if you do not believe me, believe the work I do, then you will know for sure that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.”
One of our great struggles is learning to see Christ for who He truly is. The people in this passage doubted Jesus even after seeing His works. We might be guilty of the same. We might struggle to recognize Christ at work in our lives because He does not fit our expectation. Now is the time to open our hearts to the fact that God’s ways are not our ways.
Jesus points to His works as proof of who He is. His miracles, His mercy, His teachings, they all testify to His divinity and mission. This ought to be enough. Jesus’ works ought to help us to believe.
