I am convinced that Jesus was the first Psychologist.
John 5:31-47
We have always been warned about seeking the approval of others if we want to achieve a healthy self-esteem. This Gospel reminds us that we should only seek the approval of The Father. I am convinced that Jesus was the first psychologist.
The text goes on to remind us that we should consider the source. This is practical knowledge that serves us well. We see on true crime shows on our televisions all about “romance scams” and other fraudulent schemes. We feel sorry for these people.
It never fails to amaze me, the very lessons we learn from the Gospels, we also learn at university. Jesus must also be a research scientist, yet we never give him the credit. We quote the experts, but Jesus said these things over two thousand years ago.
I pray for the strength to only seek God’s approval and to remember He is my only Source.
