St Joseph, Spouse of Mary
“… he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.”
Matthew 1:16,18-21, 24
The scripture tells us that Mary was “found”, by Joseph, “to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit”. This was difficult and confusing for him to accept. He was, however, a “righteous man” and did not want “to shame” her.
How do we ‘find’ our family members? Do we discover them – angry, hurt, destitute? We find them in different ways and sometimes it could be difficult for us to accept. We become confused. We may want to separate ourselves from them just like, at one point, Joseph considered separating himself from Mary.
Like Joseph we must trust that once we do what God wants of us that He will take care of our every insecurity, doubt or pain. Where our family members seem to be the ones doing the wrong, we trust God through that process. We keep our eyes on Him and our every dream will correspond to God’s dream and everything else will eventually fall in place for us all.
