Facilitator training for Surviving Divorce programme

As part of the parish Family Life Unit’s (FLU) Ministry to support those who are separated and divorced, the Archdiocesan Family Life Commission (AFLC) hosted a facilitation training for the Surviving Divorce programme.

This programme provides a compassionate space grounded in Catholic teaching in a 12-part series, offering emotional support, practical guidance for life after divorce, and a deeper understanding of God’s love and mercy.

This training commenced via Zoom on February 18 at 6 p.m. Thirteen participants engaged in a spiritual conversation rooted in the scripture passages Romans 5:1-11 and 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 as pilgrims of hope.

The conversation highlighted a shared conviction that true hope is found in Christ, who remains at the centre of parish and community life. Participants expressed gratitude for God’s presence in their journey and the peace found in mutual support during hardships.

They emphasised the importance of creating a welcoming space for men and women affected by divorce, fostering a sense of belonging and surrender to God’s will. Recognising the continuous nature of healing, they acknowledged the need for facilitator support to effectively accompany others.

Following the discussion, Episcopal Delegate Tricia Syms provided insights into the AFLC and FLUs, highlighting their mission in family ministry. The session reinforced the significance of hope, healing, prayer and faith in the journey of those affected by divorce.
