“The measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”
Luke 6:36-38
During Lent we focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Each of these disciplines opens our hearts and makes us more charitable and loving.
Today’s Gospel is a reminder for us to practice these disciplines. Why do we want to develop charitable virtues within us? We must note our presence in the world, and it must be one that makes the world a better place for others. Christians never live in maintenance mode, making life better for themselves, but live everyday at the service of others. What we give will come back to us. What we measure out is what we will be measured by.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your example of sacrificial love. Help us, this Lent to live each day consciously serving others in a sacrificial way. Amen
