Jubilee awareness at Chickland RC Primary

During the second week of this new school term, January 13 to 17, the introduction to, and awareness of the Jubilee Year was started with our students. The initiative was led by Delisa Aguillera, the assigned teacher rostered for assembly on the week mentioned above. She provided an overview of the basics of the Jubilee Year to the students.

The teaching session was mainly research based with students being posed different questions/or given an activity to complete. This was conducted over the week for each level  — Infants/Juniors/Seniors.

Answers were sometimes given later the same day or brought to Miss early the following morning before assembly. Students were rewarded with tokens for their responses.

Some of the questions were:

• What is the theme of Jubilee 2025?
• What instrument was used to announce the beginning of the Jubilee Year?
• How often does a Jubilee occur?
• What are the colours of the logo?
• What are some of the symbols on the logo?
• State the number of pilgrimage sites and identify at least three of them.

The activity was to create an acronym with the word HOPE. Moving forward, teachers prayed the Jubilee prayer as part of our meditation exercise on mornings.

We also intend to have a field trip to one of the sacred sites before the end of the academic year 2024-2025.
