Wednesday March 5th: Embracing Humility in Our Faith

Ash Wednesday

“’And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.”

Matthew 6:1-6,16-18

Today’s Gospel encourages us to live our faith with quiet humility. When we engage in spiritual practices without seeking recognition, we honour their true purpose and grow closer to God.
We are called to perform acts of charity, prayer, and fasting with pure hearts, focusing on God’s glory rather than seeking approval from others. As we journey through Lent, let’s support one another in our shared faith. By committing to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we deepen our relationship with God and reflect His love.
We can strengthen our faith and build a community rooted in love and service. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving were central to devout Jews’ spiritual lives, and they remain essential for Christians during Lent. Moreover, our Muslim Brothers and Sisters are conducting a similar journey: abstinence, love, and prayer.
We can explore different forms of prayer, such as Christian meditation or Lectio Divina. Let’s also remember to share our blessings with those in need. Consider donating what you save by skipping treats or indulging less.
Our practices transform when we act quietly, aligning ourselves more closely with God’s ways. Let us pray for a reflective and transformative season.
