“We have left everything to follow You!”
Mark 10:28-31
Peter’s first encounter with Jesus on the boat was so profound, that He left all without hesitation.
As the journey continued and the hardships of the WAY were no longer masked by the euphoria of that first encounter, the uncertain road became fearful. The preconceived notions of the Messiah were not evolving as he envisioned.
Perhaps at this stage Peter began to doubt; maybe he was wrong about Jesus and His decision to leave all and follow Christ. Jesus knew the turmoil and fear in Peter’s heart. He must have looked lovingly and compassionately at Peter when He promised eternal life and the guarantee to always provide for those who accept His invitation to follow Him.
Jesus, we surrender all to You, take care of everything. Holy Spirit, by the light of Your consolation, grant us unwavering faith and undaunted hope through the uncertainties of this life, as we follow Your light to the eternal shores. Amen.
