God’s love is faithful, fruitful and sacrificial.
Mark 10:1-12
Today Jesus speaks about marriage with clarity and authority, emphasizing its sanctity and permanence. He says, “The man who divorces his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another she is guilty of adultery too.”
In our world, where marriage seems to be experimental and commitment is relative, Jesus’ challenge makes marriage very demanding and near impossible. However, we cannot overlook that God’s desire for marriage is that it is a living image of His love for humanity. God’s love is faithful, fruitful and sacrificial.
While Jesus’ teaching on marriage sets a high standard, He also provides the grace needed to live it. The sacrament of marriage is not just a human arrangement; it is a partnership with God. God strengthens spouses to love as He loves: faithfully, sacrificially, and enduringly.
For those facing challenges in their marriages, remember that Christ is with you. Turn to Him in prayer, trust Him, and seek the support of the Church.
